For our fifth year of running our half-term camps here at the School of Play, we have decided to give your kids an adventure with a distinctly American twist. Get ready to pack your camp essentials because we’re bringing the thrill of “The Big Game” to our Half-Term Holiday Camps from 17th – 21st February 2025! Kids ages 3 to 11 will have unforgettable experiences with all the hands-on activities we’ve prepared for them!
Exciting activities are lined up this season.
We will get our sporty campers fired up when we introduce them to American football. It is a high-energy sport that requires teamwork and strategy. Your kids will learn the basics: how to throw, catch, and pass. They’ll even showcase their new skills in a mock championship game! After forming a team of 11 players, they’ll get to work in their own “big game” to score a touchdown!
Football Camp is available in:
- Chorlton Park Primary School
- Davyhulme Primary
We will also introduce pickleball at our sports camp. Pickleball is another sport that is taking America by storm. It’s like a fun mix of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong! Two or four people play it on a smaller court with lightweight paddles and a perforated plastic ball. The teams here might have fewer members, but it doesn’t make it less fun!
Both football and pickleball are high-energy activities that help our kids improve their physical fitness. These sports enhance their agility and their hand-eye-foot coordination. Above all, these are fantastic ways to help them develop winning strategies, build confidence, establish teamwork, and understand sportsmanship.
SPORTS Camp is available in:
- Bowdon Prep School
- Branwood Prep School
- Broadheath Primary School
- Chorlton Park Primary School
- Prestbury CE Primary School
- St Hugh’s RC Primary School (Timperley)
- Urmston Primary
Rest assured that your kids will learn the fundamentals of these iconic sports in a fun and safe environment. At School of Play, activities are tailored to their age and skill level. We make it easy for children of all ages and skill levels to pick up.
We’re also excited for our creative campers, who will create football crafts like felt fingers, popsicle art, handprint art, US paper plate flags, and American flag paper chains. They will also draw famous American buildings and scenery, such as the New York City skyline.
They will decorate tailgate snacks like Game Day marshmallows, sugar biscuits, shortbread, and fruit pops, too! This culinary experience will surely hone their practical cooking skills.

These interactive experiences not only make learning about American culture fun and memorable but also broaden students’ global perspectives and foster an appreciation for cultural diversity at a young age.
